While I do feel so blessed to have been born in the United States of America, it is times like this where my heart wants to weep. In the words of our great brother Martin Luther King Jr. "Hate cannot drive out hate. Only love can do that."
I am currently in Italy and very shortly I will be traveling to Morocco with my feet firmly planted on the African soil. I am pleased to go back after thousands of years away. My soul will finally come home, but in that same vein, what the world needs today is peace. We need compassion. We need open eyes, minds, hearts, and ears. We need a true connection and practice with the divine.
President Obama I humbly beg you, please, stop this. This is not the world your father dreamed of. This is not the world Malcom died for. This cannot be the world you dreamed of when you took office. Not at all. I hope...
So, for now. I turn my heart away from politics and into the home, and into the family. We are the great nation that gave you Trayvon Martin, Emett Till, and the Steubenville rape case.
We are the nation that dehumanizes "the other" and justifies massed genocide. We are America. And we must own that.
The rape of our African, Native American, and Irish bretheren. Still, we have learned nothing.
Love and compassion starts in the family. With our children. We teach them how to treat each other & how to be in the world. We teach them how to love and we teach them how to hate.
If you want to make a difference teach love to your children. Teach them how to listen, meditate, and access god for themselves.
Teach them that the divine is in everyone and everything & we are not separated by nations.
Our leaders cannot not help us now.
Only we can be the truth we are seeking.
In the words of our dear brother Malcom:
"We were truly all the same (brothers)...
I could see from this, that perhaps if white Americans could accept the Oneness of God, then perhaps, too, they could accept in reality the Oneness of Man -- and cease to measure, and hinder, and harm others in terms of their differences in color."
Please, if you are reading, be the change you wish to see. Don't just speak about it. The world needs our light & our action!
